Community Action Seeking Applicants For Early Head Start Program

Community Action is currently enrolling new applicants for their Early Head Start program.

According to Homebase Manager Shelly Lee, many of the students currently in the Early Head Start program are now old enough for the Head Start and they are looking for applicants to fill their spots. Early Head Start is a free year round program that brings teacher's into the children's home to help the child develop. Lee adds it is year round because at that age, it is crucial to continuously have them developing.

Lee explains the programs goal is to help parents provide for their children but they couldn't before due to low income. She adds the program's goal is to give the children what is necessary so they can transition into school.

Lee notes the program has gotten great results. She explains at the beginning of the program they do screenings on all the children, and they will throughout the year periodically assess the children's progress.
