Blue Ridge Schools Implementing New Teacher, Principal Evaluation Methods

The Blue Ridge School District will be implementing a new way of evaluating it's teachers and principals this coming school year.

There will be two different evaluations for teachers and principals. Superintendent of the Blue Ridge School District, Susan Wilson explains the teacher rubric will include very defined goals of what a good educator is and what needs improvements look like. Wilson notes this model is researched based and has been shown to impact student achievement.

For principals, they will be evaluated based on the performance of students in their buildings. Wilson notes their evaluations will be very specific, and while the points of evaluation have always been considered for principals, she feels this will be a big change.

Wilson feels these changes will be very good changes for the district. She feels having clear descriptions for teachers and clear goals for everyone will make a big difference.

The new evaluation methods start at the beginning of the upcoming school year.
