On Wednesday, November 7th, 7pm, at the Warner Public Library, the Lincoln Heritage Committee of DeWitt County will be hosting a special presentation, Lincoln in DeWitt County, by Bloomington attorney, Guy Fraker. Fraker’s acclaimed newspaper series, Our Link to Lincoln, was printed annually from 2003 to 2006, which followed Lincoln’s circuit-riding days throughout Central Illinois, including DeWitt County.

Based on information uncovered during research for the Our Link to Lincoln series and much more additional research, Fraker has published a 352-page book, Lincoln’s Ladder to the Presidency: the Eighth Judicial Circuit, which is due to be released this month. Fraker’s book emphasizes Lincoln’s days as a circuit-riding lawyer and his crucial ties to Central Illinois. According to Fraker, “All pre-presidential biographies of Lincoln allude to this Circuit experience, but none focuses on the Circuit. The book examines Lincoln and his ever-expanding circle of influence in this significant area of Illinois.” Copies of Lincoln’s Ladder to the Presidency will be available for purchase and signing at the Lincoln in DeWitt County event.
