Mainstreet Lincoln Records Record Number of Entries For Annual Christmas Parade

The annual Lincoln Christmas parade takes place Thursday night.

Mainstreet Lincoln hosts the parade each year, which turns out great community support. Mayor of the City of Lincoln, Keith Snyder explains this year's theme is "Sending Holiday Greetings To Your Loved Ones."

Lincoln is one of the few communities who still do an evening parade. Snyder feels it brings a little more of a Christmas feel with the chill in the air. He notes sometimes the weather holds up so it's sometimes nice, other times, it can be very cold.

Each year, Mainstreet Lincoln picks a theme for the parade, and Lisa LaForge with Mainstreet Lincoln explains it is to give all the groups creating their floats somewhat of a guide. LaForge says each year it is a lot of fun to see what the community groups will come up with, and she feels it is a big reason people within the community come back each year for the parade.

Tonight's parade gets underway at 5:30 and will start at Wyatt and Kickapoo Streets in Lincoln. The floats will then go down Kickapoo, then right at Broadway, and a final right on McLean Street.
