County Board Approves Special Committee For Animal Shelter

The DeWitt County Board met Thursday night and appointed a special committee to oversee the process of building a new animal shelter.

The committee will consist of county board members, along with maintenance supervisor Wendy Scwartz. Ron Savage will chair the committee and Terry Hoffman will be recording secretary.
Board chair Sherry Brown says the idea came from board vice-chair Pete Dougherty, who wasn't present at last night's meeting.

Chairwoman Brown had received a request to extend an invitation to Village Presidents or Mayors. Brown recommended extending an invitation to those people to be a part of the Committee.

The Committee has been given a final conclusion deadline of July 18 of this summer.

On top of this special Committee, the Board has also established a special fishing committee. That committee is investigating the County's water areas and the care they receive. The County Board did away with their regular committees when the Board was first sworn in, in early December.
