Man In Pana Standoff Dead

The man who allegedly shot a Pana police officer in an early morning standoff is dead. Officials say the man fired on the officer around 3:00 this morning, then ran to the roof of the home in the vicinity of 1498 East and 350 North. He refused to come down so the state police SWAT team was called in to negotiate with him. But officials say the man ended up setting the roof on fire then started shooting at officers on the ground. Members of the SWAT team fired back and killed him.

The Pana Police Officer who was hit is in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries. There's still no word on what prompted the whole ordeal but police are questioning three other people who were in the home.
