Man Found Dead In Central Illinois Was Hit By Car

Authorities say a 26-year-old found dead in rural central Illinois apparently was struck by a motor vehicle while he walked home after visiting family.

McLean County Coroner Beth Kimmerling said Monday that an autopsy showed Blaine B. Umstattd, who last lived in Holder, Illinois, died of head injuries. His body was found early Sunday morning on the side of a road in rural LeRoy.

He was taken to a Bloomington hospital where emergency department workers pronounced him dead.

Kimmerling saysan initial investigation suggests Umstattd had been visiting with family in LeRoy earlier Sunday and was walking home when he was hit.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the McLean County sheriff's office.
