One local nutrition program will soon be educating DeWitt County about Diabetes.
The University of Illinois Extension will be holding a series regarding various diabetic topics which will begin in October. Caitlin Huth, with U of I Extension, notes the workshops will cover a wealth of information from fitness to how food affects blood sugar. Lifestyle planning will also be covered.

Huth explains diabetes is a preventative disease. This means genetics don't always have to determine whether one gets the disease. She adds those who take care of themselves will have greater health outcomes over a longer period of time.

The classes will run four Thursdays beginning in late-October. Huth explains a diabetic-safe lunch will be provided, since the class will be held over the lunch hour. Physical fitness will also be once of the major components covered.
