Peoria Man Charged With Batter of Officer

Authorities have charged a Peoria man who they say punched a code enforcement officer in a marked city vehicle.

Reports indicate 21-year-old Ervin Allen was charged in Peoria County court Thursday with vehicular invasion and aggravated battery. He faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

Authorities say 49-year-old enforcement officer Lisa Eads encountered him Tuesday when her vehicle blocked his Jeep in an alley. She told him through her open window that he was going the wrong way.

Authorities say Allen got out and walked toward her. They say he cursed at her and threw a cup of soda in her face before reaching through the window and punching her.

Allen was ordered held on $75,000 bond. It wasn't immediately clear if he has an attorney.
