New Look County Board Gets Sworn in Tonight

The new look DeWitt County Board will be sworn in tonight and changes could once again be sweeping the County.

The released agenda for a special Monday meeting features the swearing in of five new County Board members.

Board Chair Sherrie Brown's days of being the head of the board could be coming to an end as nominations will be taken for Chairperson and Vice-Chair.

The new board could also vote to go back to the "Code of Ordinance Book" which the old County Board eliminated nearly two years to the date.

In addition to that, the Committee system could be brought back. A motion is on the agenda to restore the Committee system, reestablishing the Public Safety, Road and Bridge, Marina, Land Use, Finance and Property committees, and make appointments to each.

The Board will also set meeting dates for 2015.

The new County Board also faces appointing a new State's Attorney, as current State's Attorney, Karle Koritz will step down mid-week as he takes over the position of Circuit Court Judge after the passing of the Honorable Garry Bryan.
