Vision 20/20 Endorsed By Warresnburg-Latham School Leader

School leaders across the state are excited about the prospects of change thanks to an initiative taken on by their peers.

Vision 20/20 outlines reforms to education put together by school leaders within the school systems. According to Dr. Kristen Kendrick-Weikle, Vision 20/20 is giving the school leaders on the front lines a voice in the policies that are made that effect them.

There are four "pillars" that make up Vision 20/20 and for Dr. Kendrick-Weikle, she feels the financing of schools is at the top of her list. She explains the financial focus seeks only to make the best use of the money going to schools, and does not endorse one plan over another.

Dr. Kendrick-Weikle is excited for her and her peers to have a louder voice among Illinois lawmakers. She feels the public education system can and should be successful, and Vision 20/20 can help bring public education to a better place.

Dr. Kendrick-Weikle says cooperation with lawmakers is going to be crucial, but also, understanding and cooperation from the public will be even bigger. She hopes to be able to send the same message to lawmakers about what things need to be done in education as informing the public about Vision 20/20 takes place.
