Monticello Uses Huge Second Half To Get By Maroa-Forsyth

The Monticello Sages outscored Maroa-Forsyth by 20 points in the second half en-route to a 68-52 win Friday night in Maroa.

 width=After trailing by as many as 11 in the first half, Monticello mounted a 21-0 run that spanned the midway point of the second quarter to the midway point of the third. The run turned the 11-point deficit into a 40-30 lead, and from there it was all Sages.

Noah Freemon poured in a game high 24 points and shot 7 of 10 from the floor and the free throw line.

Zach Fisher added 21 points with six rebounds.

Blake Bryan led the way with 16 points and nine rebounds and Parker Barrett added 16 points for the Trojans. Austin Mandrell added nine points.

With the loss, Maroa-Forsyth remains winless in Okaw Valley Conference play at 0-8 and are 4-20 overall.

The Sages improve to 16-5 and move to 6-2 in Okaw play.

Monticello hosts Champaign St. Thomas More Tuesday night at 7:30.
