Proposals in Governor Bruce Rauner's budget indicate communities across Illinois will suffer greatly as it relates to moneys they receive from the state.
Clinton City Commission Tom Edmunds indicates the losses in their general revenue could total up to $350-thousand dollars. Edmunds, who was in attendance of the Monday night Clinton City Council meeting via telephone, says that is a cut of around 50% and would greatly impact the city's finances.

Clinton Mayor Carolyn Peters hopes the cuts don't run that deep, but she says department leaders need to plan like they will. She notes there are several target areas that could be reduced or cut.

The Governor's budget proposal has widely been considered a starting point for negotiations, and the Mayor is hoping that is the case. She says a 50% in their state revenues would force the city to make tough decisions.
