Big Brothers Big Sisters Celebrating Successful 'Bowl For Kids Sake'

A local organization is celebrating a recent event in Lincoln as a big success.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of DeWitt County held their annual "Bowl For Kids Sake" event in Lincoln at Logan Lanes Saturday night. Brie Weaver with BBBS says a lot of community groups and businesses stepped up to be a part of their annual trip.

Thanks to all the participants, close to $7-thousand was raised. Weaver indicates they ask for a $50 donation up front, and for some, it comes out of pocket and for others, they find ways to raise money for the fee.

Weaver says fundraisers like the "Bowl For Kids Sake" goes to support the costs it takes to support a "big" in the program. She explains while there is no cost to the "little" or the volunteer, there are costs associated with having volunteers in their organization.

Weaver thanks Ameren and CrimeStoppers who were the presenting sponsors of the event. She was very pleased they were able to fill all 16 lanes of Logan Lanes, she also thanks them for allowing to be held there once again.
