Local Habitat for Humanity Works to Better Community Homes

The DeWitt County Chapter of Habitat for Humanity is working with a national program to serve low-income home owners.

The program called A Brush with Kindness assists families who struggle to maintain their home exteriors. Habitat Board Member Norman Emery says a person's income must qualify in order to be considered. They will also have to be willing to pay and partner with the organization.

The program allows the local Habitat to perform tasks in the community along with the usual home building. Emery notes there is a contagious pay it forward spirit to sprucing up someone's home.

Habitat for Humanity will be working with American Legion in June to build a wheelchair ramp onto the home of a local veteran.
