Former Bears' DT McDonald Arrested Again; NFL Notes

>>Bears' Forte Says He Won't Hold Out For Extension

Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte says he will not hold out for a contract extension.

A two-time Pro Bowl pick, he says he will report to training camp on time despite the team's refusal to extend his deal. Forte is entering the final season of a four-year contract he signed in 2012.

He says the Bears told him they are "not talking about that type of stuff right now." He does not expect to revisit contract talks with general manager Ryan Pace anytime soon.

The 29-year-old Forte set an NFL record for receptions by a running back last season with 102. He joined LaDainian Tomlinson as the only players with 100 catches and 1,000 yards rushing in the same season.

>>Former Bears' DT McDonald Arrested Again

width=Former 49ers and Bears defensive lineman Ray McDonald was arrested Wednesday for violating a restraining order that was issued as a result of his domestic violence and child endangerment arrest that occurred Monday.

According to a report from the Santa Clara Police Department, detectives "learned Ray McDonald violated a restraining order for being at a residence in Santa Clara." Detectives later found McDonald at a nearby Togo's Sandwiches and arrested the 30-year-old "without incident" and transported him to Santa Clara PD for processing.

On Memorial Day, Santa Clara police had arrested McDonald on suspicion of domestic violence and child endangerment in the attack of a woman holding a baby.

McDonald, who was signed by the Bears in late March, was subsequently released following his arrest on Monday.

>>Peterson Wants To Secure Future With Vikings

Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer made it clear Wednesday that Adrian Peterson's only options are playing in Minnesota or retiring.

width="He's really got two choices: He can either play for us or he can not play," Zimmer told the assembled media at offseason workouts. "He's not going to play for anyone else and that's just the way it's going to be."

Peterson issued a statement Wednesday night aimed at clarifying his absence from this week's organized team activities.

"The reason I'm not attending OTAs has nothing to do with wanting to be traded," Peterson said in the statement to ESPN's Josina Anderson. "It's about securing my future with the Vikings. It's business, not personal and I understand that firsthand. Go Vikings."

Throughout the offseason, Peterson was linked to trade rumors and speculation about his future with the Vikings. Team officials have said they want Peterson to remain with the team.

>>Colts Sign First Round Pick

The Indianapolis Colts signed first- round draft pick Phillip Dorsett on Wednesday.

Dorsett, a 5-foot-10, 185-pound wide receiver, was drafted No. 29 overall out of Miami.

He had 108 receptions for 1,860 yards and 15 touchdowns in three seasons for the Hurricanes, making 30 starts.

>>Texans To Be On Hard Knocks

The Houston Texans will be the featured NFL team this summer for HBO's "Hard Knocks" program, the series that details the club's training camp.

Earlier Wednesday, the Houston Chronicle reported that the Texans were approached previously to take part in the series, but then-head coach Gary Kubiak declined.

The Texans were 9-7 in Bill O'Brien's first season as head coach in 2014, improving from 2-14 in 2013. Kubiak was fired with three games remaining in the 2013 campaign.

"This is an opportunity to provide a behind-the-scenes look at our team as we prepare for the 2015 season," said Texans general manager Rick Smith. "Fans will get a chance to see the great competition that takes place day-in and day-out on the practice field, as well as get to know all the unique personalities on our roster."

The Baltimore Ravens were the first team to appear on the series in 2001, followed by the Dallas Cowboys in 2002. After a four-year hiatus, the series returned in 2007 with the Kansas City Chiefs.
