Clinton Girls Track Team Wraps Up Another Successful Campaign

width=At the Clinton Board of Education regular meeting Tuesday, the high school girls varsity track team was recognized for yet another successful campaign.

Head Coach Randy Anderson says this year they had athletes from four events move on the state track meet in Charleston, Illinois. He says that is quite an accomplishment for Clinton because they have been bumped to Class 2A, which pits them against schools that are much larger.

Among the athletes that moved on to the state meet, several set personal bests there and Anderson indicates they had to overcome several obstacles not only to get to state, but to compete there as well.

Other athletes recognized at the Tuesday Board of Education Meeting were the boys and girls junior high school track teams.

The Board of Education also heard a proposal from Activities Director Barry Gurvey for an additional freshman volleyball coach.

Gurvey also discussed introducing baseline testing for concussions at the high school.

Lawyers representing the school district briefed the Board of the ongoing Exelon negotiations.

We'll have more on those stories in the coming days on Regional Radio News.
