New University of Illinois Financial Task Force Looking Long Term

One of the top administrators at the University of Illinois' flagship campus says a new task force looking at the school's budget aims to plot a long-term financial course.

Ilesanmi Adesida (ill-ih-SHAHN'-mee uh-DISH'-eh-dah) is the provost at the Urbana-Champaign campus. According to reports, he says the school typically adjusts year to year as it watches state funding fall.

Adjusting for inflation, state support for the university has dropped from more than $1 billion a year in fiscal 2002 to $662 million in the year that just ended.

Adesida said the task force will discuss spending priorities for the next five to 10 years.
