Twins outfielder Torii Hunter retired Monday after playing in parts of 19 major-league season.
Hunter, 40, was originally drafted by the Twins in 1993 as the 20th overall pick out of Pine Bluff (Ark.) High School. Hunter spent 12 of his 19 big-league seasons in a Twins uniform. The 12th of those seasons was 2015, in which Hunter hit 22 home runs during a late-career reunion with Minnesota. In between his two stints with the Twins, Hunter spent five seasons with the Angels and two with the Tigers. While Hunter never won a World Series, he was a member of eight different playoff teams.
Over the span of his career, Hunter batted .277/.331/.461 in 2,372 games with 353 homers; 498 doubles; 195 stolen bases; and 2,452 hits. He also made five All-Star appearances and won nine Gold Gloves and two Silver Sluggers. As an outfielder, Hunter ranks 14th all-time with 5,263 putouts.
