Clinton Streets Leader: We Have Every Intention of Keeping Brush Cleanup Program

Despite struggles this summer by the Clinton Streets Department to keep the brush cleanup program, the leader of the Streets Department says they have every intention of keeping the program in place.

Steve Lobb is the Public Works Director for Clinton and explains while they plan to keep the program in place, they also plan on making some adjustments. He notes, at no point have they ever thought about shutting it down.

According to Lobb, one of the adjustments they are looking at is having a limit on how much brush will be taken from a residence. He explains this would ensure his crews are able to keep the line moving and be able to sweep the town in a timely fashion.

The city streets department is very small in its personnel, and Lobb explains when they take the time to clean up the brush across the community, they put all hands on deck to do it, and it can in many cases, take over a week to complete.

The Clinton City Council will continue their discussion of amendments to the program tonight.

The Council meets for their first of their November meetings.
