Monticello Mayor Resigns Citing Health Concerns

width=Monticello Mayor Chris Corrie has resigned his post, effective immediately.

He tells Regional Radio saying he is struggling with chronic Lyme disease.

Mayor Corrie informed the Monticello City Council during Monday night's City Council meeting.

He indicates his doctors have told him he needs to reduce his activity.

Corrie was an alderman for one term before he was elected mayor in 2009. He was serving his second term when he resigned.

The city council now has to find someone to finish the rest of Corrie's term through April 2017. City Attorney Derke Price says nominations can be made at the next council meeting.
