Officials are investigating the discovery of a body on Clinton's east side.

The Clinton Police Department reports emergency responders were dispatched to the 500 block of East Van Buren Street at 6:23 Monday morning for a report of a person laying next to the roadway near Subway.

Police Chief Ben Lowers indicates crews discovered the body of 59-year old Paul R. Cox, of Clinton. He says an investigation is ongoing, and an autopsy has been planned for this (Monday) afternoon.

Chief Lowers says minimal information is being released due to an ongoing investigation. He also declined to comment if foul play is suspected.
