Analysts Waiting For More From Rauner

Government analysts are reviewing the governor’s first year in office.

Paul Simon Public Policy Institute’s David Yepsen says he’s not willing to call the game on Governor Bruce Rauner quite yet.

However Yepsen says the governor deserves credit for being willing to consider more revenue in exchange for his Turnaround Agenda items but criticized the governor for picking a fight with organized labor.

Illinois Times Reporter Bruce Rushton says the governor has yet to leave Illinois better than he found it.

Rushton says he’s not implying the governor isn’t putting forth a good faith attempt but suggests ideology may get in the way of the quote “politics of the possible.”

Governor Rauner, a Republican, has been in office for a full year dealing with Democrat supermajority that has yet to put forth a budget with revenues equal to spending.
