Legislation has been introduced in Springfield that would require state agencies to purchase only vehicles made in North America.
The sponsor is State Representative Mike Halpin of Rock Island.
House Bill 795 passed out of State Government Administration committee last week and now moves to the full House.
It requires all vehicles purchased, leased or used by the State of Illinois to be assembled in the United States or Canada.
