Clinton High School Names New Football Coach

The Clinton Maroons will be under the direction of Chris Ridgeway, last year's defensive coordinator.

Superintendent Curt Nettles made the announcement Monday afternoon that Ridgeway would succeed Nick Blackburn, who stepped down as head coach of the program earlier this year.

Nettles indicates the fact Ridgeway if familiar with the students and the community was a big selling point but also feels his vision for the program is one they were sold on.

This will be the third coach in three years for the Maroons and Nettles says Ridgeway wants to be here for the long-term and invest in the lower levels of football in the community.

Ridgeway will be approved as the new coach at the next Clinton Board of Education meeting in May.
