Clinton Board of Education Discusses Testing for Unvaccinated Staff, Quarantined Students

Shield testing could be coming to Clinton schools for unvaccinated staffers and students sent home due to quarantine.

At the Tuesday night Clinton Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Curt Nettles informed the board of an opportunity for joining Richland Community College's shield testing program. To make things as convenient as possible, Nettles proposed bringing the testing to the Richland campus adjacent to the school district campus.

There is a component of the program that would train staff to test students so they can remain in school as a close contact. According to Nettles, the students would be tested with a parent's permission but he would hope to purchase test supplies to have on hand.

An added layer to the testing would be gathering the insurance information of students. Nettles explains the goal is to keep as many kids in school as possible.

According to Nettles, he had hoped to have a contract for the testing ahead of the meeting but did not. He was directed by the school board to pursue getting supplies for the testing program.
