Congressman Sorenson Outlines Debt Ceiling Debate

Lawmakers are on a months-long break, but that's not stopping an Illinois lawmaker from voicing his opinion about the debt ceiling crisis.

 

Once lawmakers return to Capitol Hill in January, they will have six or seven days to find common ground on Speaker Mike Johnson's phase one debt crisis plan. If Congress does not find common ground on a new deal, it could lead to the nation's 11th governmental shutdown in U.S. history.

 

The new spending plan would not include President Biden's proposed 1-hundred six billion dollars in wartime aid for Ukraine and Israel.
