Monticello Beats Arthut-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond

In a game heard on WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com, Miranda Fogal struck out twelve batters and threw a complete game leading Monticello past Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond 5-1 in non-conference girls softball action from Monticello High School Friday afternoon.

Fogal allowed a single run in the top of the sixth inning on a bloop single off the bat of Taylor Powell after she walked the first two batters of the inning.

Prior to allowing a walk to Mackenzie Brown to start the sixth, Fogal had set down 13 straight batters, nine via strikeout.

The Lady Sages scored all their runs in the second inning. The Lady Knights booted four straight outs to start the inning and Delaney Hilderbrandt drilled a two-run double to left field that and then Hayley Moore brought in Hilderbrandt with an RBI single two batters later to stake the Lady Sages to a 5-0 lead.

Hilderbrandt finished 1-for-2 with a walk.

The Lady Sages improve to 2-1 overall while ALAH drops to 0-3.
