Monticello Blanks Clinton in Girls Softball Action

Skyler Frye hit a solo home run in the first inning and cleared the bases with a three-run double in the third inning helping Monticello rout Clinton 11-0 in non-conference girls softball action Wednesday afternoon at Monticello. The game was heard on WHOW, WEZC, and dewittdailynews.com.

 

Frye homered in the first run of the game for the Lady Sages.

 

Kaleena Davis hit a two-run home run to cap a five-run fifth inning. With the bases loaded in the third, Frye cleared the bases with a double to right center field and gave the Lady Sages a 10-0 lead.

 

Frye led the Lady Sages with five RBIs and scored twice. Davis was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Addison Wichus reached base three times and scored twice. Taylor Wunderlich and Brittany Jones each scored twice as well.

 

Wunderlich threw a five-inning shutout in the ten-run rule shortened game. She allowed two hits, four walks and struck out nine.

 

The Lady Maroons were led by Savannah Clifton with a double and a walk.

 

Clinton is 0-8 on the season. Monticello improves to 8-5.
