It was a record-breaking night for Clinton High School senior quarterback Garrett Wayne last Friday night, but not before a great deal of confusion.
366 ended up being the official total for Wayne's rushing yards in a wild 66-38 win over Sullivan at Clinton High School. Coach Chris Ridgeway says he knew Wayne was approaching the record and so he gave him three plays to try to get there.
After Ridgeway thought his quarterback broke the record, that was only halfway through the confusion. According to Alec Cooley, who held the record, his record was 356. But Ridgeway wanted to make sure so he watched film....
So the new single-game rushing record at Clinton High School is 366 yards held by Garrett Wayne from 2019.
