Monticello Rolls Staunton in First of Two From Greenville

The Monticello Sages rolled past Staunton 44-26 in the first of two non-conference high school boys basketball games from the Greenville Comets Quad Saturday afternoon.

 

Monticello gradually opened their lead throughout the first half and overcame a slow start to open a 25-11 halftime advantage.

 

The Sages defense held the Bulldogs to just 39-percent shooting and used 11 steals to force 18 turnovers and had 12 points off those turnovers.

 

Ryan Reeder scored a game-high 13 points. Garrett Kepley added 10 points. Briggs Fultz scored eight points, grabbed five rebounds and had four steals. 

 

Ethan Booth led Staunton with 12 points.

 

Monticello dominated points in the paint 34-12 and won the rebounding battle 25-18.

 

Monticello finishes the day in Greenville taking on the hosts Comets at 6:30 pm tonight.
