Monticello Boy's Basketball Team Wraps Season Up Hosting St. Joseph-Ogden

The Monticello boy's basketball team will host Illini Prairie Conference rival St. Joseph-Ogden tonight on Senior Night at Monticello High School to wrap up the 2021 pandemic altered basketball season.

The Sage pulled away late from Bismarck-Henning to win 62-50 on Saturday at the Sievers Center at Monticello High School.

Monticello bounced back from a tough 48-46 walk-off win by Prairie Central Friday night on the road.

The Sages had several standout performances Saturday. Senior Jake Edmondson grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds despite not scoring. Joey Sprinkle recorded his first career double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds and Ben Cresap dished out seven assists to zero turnovers.

Tonight, Monticello will have its hands full with 6-foot-6 sophomore Ty Pence, likely an All-State selection, and the Spartans who enter play 8-2 overall and 6-2 in the Illini Prairie Conference.

The Sages are 7-3 and 5-3 in the Illini Prairie.

Game time is 7 pm tonight from the Sievers Center. Hear the action on 95.9 FM WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com.
