Monticello Stays Put in High School Football Top 10 Rankings

After a big win in week one of the high school football season, the Monticello Sages varsity football team stayed at no. 3 in the latest Class 3A high school football rankings.

 

The Sages started slow but came alive to score 43-unanswered points and rolled past St. Joseph-Ogden 43-8, enough to stay at No. 3 in the latest AP rankings. Wilmington received six first-place votes and remained no. 1 followed by Princeton at no. 2 who received three of the nine first-place votes.

 

Tolono Unity moved up to No. 4 after Williamsville lost in week one, and slipped to No. 5. Byron checks in at No. 6. Farmington, Nashville, Montini and Mt. Carmel round out the top 10 in 3A. PBL and Prairie Central received votes in the 3A poll but did not crack the top-10.

 

Decatur St. Teresa remains No. 1 in the 2A polls. Maroa-Forsyth moved up to No. 2 while IC Catholic moves up big to No. 3 from No. 7 last week and received two first-place votes. Tri-Valley moved up to No. 6 from No. 9 last week. Pana checks in at No. 10 in this week's poll. Bloomington Central Catholic received votes in this week's poll.

 

Central A&M is tied this week in the 1A poll with Lena-Winslow. The Raiders received two first-place votes to Lena-Winslow's seven, however, each received 81 overall points to tie in the poll. Tuscola moves into this week's poll at No. 6. Arcola and GCMS received votes this week but did not crack the top-10.

 

Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin received a vote for first place this week but comes at No. 2 in this week's 4A poll. Joliet Catholic is this week's No. 1. Mt. Zion is No. 8, up from No. 10 last week.

 

East St. Louis is this week's No. 1 in 5A. Rochester received a first-place vote and is No. 2 this week while Peoria is No. 3. Decatur MacArthur stayed put at No. 7 in this week's poll. Metamora fell out of this week's 5A poll.

 

Washington is No. 3 in the 6A poll with Springfield High at No. 7. Cary Grove is the unanimous No. 1 in this week's 6A poll. 

 

In 7A, Chicago Mt. Carmel is No. 1, Loyola received four first-place votes at No. 2 while Chicago Brother Rice received a vote at No. 3. Normal Community just missed out on the top 10 and Pekin received votes in this week's 6A poll. 

 

In 8A, Gurnee Warren is No. 1.
