Monticello Headlines 3A Polls Dominated by Illini Prairie Conference

The Monticello Sages football team remained steady at No. 3 in the latest Class 3A high school football AP rankings, as the Illini Prairie Conference dominated this week's rankings.

 

The Sages lead a top-10 that features Tolono Unity at No. 4 and Paxton-Buckley-Loda enters this week's rankings at No. 10.

 

Wilmington and Princeton split the eight first-place votes with Wilmington at No. 1 and Princeton at No. 2. Williamsville rounds out the top 5. Montini, Byron, Farmington and Mt. Carmel with PBL at No. 10 round the 3A poll.

 

Decatur St. Teresa holds steady at No. 1 in 2A with five first-place votes. IC Catholic received the remaining three first-place votes in 2A as they swap places with Maroa-Forsyth for second in this week's polling. Breese Mater Dei checks in at No. 4 while Tri-Valley is No. 5. Bismarck-Henning and Rockridge tied for sixth. Pana, Sterling Newman and Rushville-Industry round out the top 10 in 2A.

 

Despite receiving only three of the eight first-place votes and Lena-Winslow receiving five votes, the Central A&M Raiders edged out Panthers by two points for first place in this week's 1A poll. The two schools had tied for first last week. Brown County comes in at No. 3 this week while Fulton and Kewanee-Weathersfield tied for fourth this week. Cumberland, Aurora Christian, Camp Point Central, Carrollton, and St. Bede round the 1A top 10.

 

Joliet Catholic was the unanimous No. 1 in 4A with Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin coming in at No. 2 in this week's polling. Mt. Zion moved up a spot to No. 7 in the 4A poll. 

 

East St. Louis received seven votes to stay at No. 1 in the 5A poll. Rochester received the other first place vote and is No.2 again this week. Fenwick moved up three spots to No. 3 this week. With a week 2 loss, Peoria dropped from third to seventh and Metamora checks into this week's poll at No. 10, tied with Glenbard South.

 

Springfield High moved up two spots to No. 5 in this week's 6A poll. After a week 2 loss, Washington dropped to No. 8. Cary-Grove is the unanimous No. 1 in 6A.

 

Pekin moved into this week's 7A poll, coming in at No. 10. Loyola received eight of nine first-place votes and swapped places with Chicago Mt. Carmel for first in 7A. Normal Community just missed out on this week's top 10. 

 

The 8A poll saw quite the shake-up. Naperville Central moved up to No. 1 from No. 4 last week and received three of eight first-place votes. Maine South moves up to No. 2 from No. 5 last week and also received three first-place votes. Chicago Marist stayed at No. 3 and received the remaining two first-place votes. After a week 2 loss, Gurnee Warren dropped to No. 4 after being No. 1 in last week's poll.
