The Mt. Pulaski Hilltoppers used a four-run fourth inning to propel them past Havana 6-2 in non-conference high school boy's baseball action Wednesday afternoon in Havana.
Gavin Smith struck out 12 across 5 1/3 innings of two-run ball, one was earned. Smith permitted two hits and walked four. Liam Smith closed the game out with two strikeouts across an inning and two-thirds.
Freshman Chance Payne was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs. Clayton Aylesworth was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs. Lucas Kuhlman walked three times and Jackson Fricke was 1-for-2 with an RBI and walked twice.
Smith scored two runs for the Hilltoppers.
Mt. Pulaski goes to 19-4 overall.
The Hilltoppers host El Paso-Gridley this afternoon.
