Heyworth Football Seeking Revival

Last year's seniors saved the Heyworth football program.

It's not a statement second-year coach Nate Albaugh puts out there lightly. He explains getting appointed to the Hornets head football job in the summer and found quickly interest in playing football was low. That's when his senior class went to work recruiting anyone and everyone in the student body.

For Coach Albaugh, after last year's season, he put football aside and invested in his role as the school's athletic director and focused on being there for the kids. While difficult, he feels it is paying off.

As the season gets going, Coach Albaugh has been pleasantly surprised with some of the things his team is doing well. He believes while young, they could be a very good defensive team with good weapons offensively.

Early on, Coach Albaugh says his team does look good, he looks forward to getting across the line from another group to find out where his team is at.

The Hornets open the 2022 football season at Oakland Tri-County.
