HS GBBall: Clinton Recovers From Slow Start, Rolls Shelbyville

Shelbyville jumped out quickly on Clinton but the Lady Maroons recovered and rolled to a 53-41 Central Illinois Conference high school girl's basketball win Thursday night from Shelbyville.

 

The Lady Maroons fell behind 14-6 after the first quarter but dominated the rest chipping away to get withing 23-20 at the break and then blew things open with a 20-7 third quarter to go up 40-30 after three.

 

It was another balanced scoring night for the Lady Maroons as well. Clara Dempsey scored a game-high 19 points. Regan Filkin added 12 points. MaKayla Koeppel added nine while Avery Smith scored eight.

 

The Maroons go to 2-0 in league play and 5-4 overall in winning its fourth straight.

 

It will be a doubleheader Saturday with the boy's basketball team as they play host to Heyworth. Hear the girl's action starting at 5 pm on WHOW and its many digital platforms.
