HS GBBall: Slow Second Half Dooms Monticello

In a game heard on WEZC, Maia High was fouled on a last second three pointer as time expired on the first half, made all three free throws and staked Monticello to a halftime lead but the offense went away in the second half as Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond took over for a 45-32 win in non-conference high school girl's basketball action Monday from the Sievers Center at Monticello High School.

High's free throws made the score 19-17 at the break but Monticello mustered just one field in the third quarter and finally came alive late to close the gap late but it was too little too late.

Monticello had balanced scoring for the game led by Megan Allen's nine points. Isa Beery had eight points, Jobi Smith contributed seven points and High had six points.

Smith's efforts for the night earned hear the ServPro of Piatt/DeWitt County Player of the Game.

Kailee Otto and Charley Condill each had 11 points to pace the Lady Knights. Ruby Burton scored nine points.

ALAH improves to 8-3 overall while Monticello drops to 4-6.

The next Monticello girl's basketball broadcast comes up next Monday, Dec. 19 against Decatur St. Teresa. Game time is 7 pm.

Tonight, hear boy's basketball on WEZC and dewittdailynews.com as the Sages travel to Arthur to take on ALAH. Game time is 7 pm.
