HS BBALL: Lady Maroons Bounce Bulldogs On Senior Night

In a game heard Thursday night on WHOW, the Clinton Lady Maroons finished the regular season on a high note, downing Decatur St. Teresa, 52-43, in Central Illinois Conference action at Clinton High School.  
 

The Senior Night contest was a rematch from the second game of the season for both teams.  St. T won the first go around by 19 points.  However, this matchup was a back and forth affair thru the first two quarters.  Clinton led after the first 13-11, but the Bulldogs led at the half 21-19.  The young Lady Maroons turned up the defensive intensity in the second half, which equated to several fastbreak points.  Clinton outscored the Bulldogs, 17-12 in the third, and then 16-10 in the fourth.  
 

The Lady Maroons were led by Clara Dempsey and Reagan Filkin, who each finished with 14 points.  Filkin scored 10 of the Maroons 16 fourth quarter points, and was named the WHOW / Serv Pro of Piatt/DeWitt County Player of the Game.  Heidi Humble also added 13 for Clinton.  
 

St. Teresa was led by Joella Livingston with 13 points; Lucy Corley had 11; and Grace Lees added 10.  The Bulldogs finish the regular season at 16-11 overall, and 4-3 in the CIC. 
 

Clinton ends the regular season 15-16 overall, and also 4-3 in conference.  The Lady Maroons travel to Maroa-Forsyth Saturday afternoon at 1pm to open Class 2A Regional play.  Hear the matchup on all WHOW platforms!
