HS BBBall: Clinton Falls Short to St. T

In a game heard on WHOW and its online platforms, the Clinton Maroons fell short 72-61 in Central Illinois Conference high school boy's basketball action Thursday night at Clinton High School.

Ryheem Tyus scored 14 of his game-high 20 points in the second half, Shadow Sumner had 13 of his 18 points in the first half, pacing a balanced Bulldogs attack that would not let Clinton get closer than seven in the second half.

Billy Guyse added 13 points for the Bulldogs and Dylan Geiser added nine.

The Maroons were balanced in scoring as well. Mason Walker led the way with 16 points, Dawson Graves finished with 15 points despite struggles at times with open looks.

Colton Walker was the ServPro of Piatt/DeWitt County player of the game finishing with 14 points. Walker impressed with aggressive defense and poise around the rim.

Brooks Cluver chipped in with 15 points for the Maroons.

It's off to the postseason for both squads.

Clinton awaits the winner of Buffalo Tri-City and Maroa-Forsyth who battle Saturday afternoon in Maroa. The winner takes on the Maroons at Clinton High School next Wednesday night at 7:30 pm. Hear the action on WHOW and its many online platforms.
