HS Softball: Westville Walks Off Monticello

Westville brought home the game's winning run in the bottom of the 11th inning as the Tigers downed Monticello 4-3 in a marathon non-conference high school girl's softball contest at Westville Tuesday.

 

The Lady Sages were shut out through five innings but rallied with a two-run sixth inning and tied the game in the top of the seventh inning to send the game to extras.

 

Reese Patton was terrific in circle for Monticello. The junior went all 11 innings and did not record a strikeout or a walk. She allowed four runs, three were earned on ten hits.

 

Only one of the three runs scored for Monticello was credited as a run batted in. 

 

Lynnsee Trybom finished 1-for-5 with a solo home run. Catie Swartz was 2-for-5.

The Lady Sages struck out 22 times against Abby Sabalaskey as she completed all 11 innings for the Lady Tigers. Just one of the three runs she surrendered was earned. Sabalaseky also finished 3-for-5. 

 

The Lady Sages are 6-8 on the season. They will host PBL Thursday in Illini Prairie Conference softball action.
