HS FBall: Decatur Eisenhower Looking For Continued Growth

It's one step at a time for Decatur Eisenhower football in its journey to build a sustainable program.

Despite a 1-8 campaign last fall, second-year football coach DaJuan Johnson was proud of how his team handled the adversity of the season and the buy-in he had from the kids.

Coming into the summer, Coach Johnson started to do a little more with the kids. They started back with June camps and workouts and in July, Coach Johnson took his team to the SIU 7-on-7.

As Coach Johnson continues to build the Eisenhower football program, what is next step for the program?

Coach Johnson also believes one of the next steps is to bring the school and community on board with what they are doing. He points out one of the challenges for the program has been the turnover in the head coach position. He hopes to be around for a while and be someone those entities get to know.

Eisenhower opens its 2023 fall season at home hosting Jacksonville.
