HS FBall: Despite Loss of Monster Senior Class, Expectations Don't Change for Mahomet-Seymour

The Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs entered the fall of 2022 with huge expectations as a dynamic senior class felt poised for big things.

Turn the page to the fall of 2023 and it will largely be a new group but coach Jon Adkins says things don't change for his team. He feels confident in his team this year and feels the off-season shows the desire for the next group of student-athletes to carry the mantle and maintain the standard of excellence set by last year's group.

While it may seem like the Bulldogs don't have a lot of experience to turn to, Coach Adkins doesn't necessarily believe that. He points out they were able to get some younger players' snaps a lot last year thanks to being well ahead by halftime in several games.

Last year, Mahomet-Seymour was very pass-heavy with a Division I quarterback. This year Coach Adkins anticipates his team being more balanced.

The Bulldogs advanced to the quarterfinal round of the 5A playoffs last year. Mahomet-Seymour travels to Morton to open the fall football season.
