HS FBall: Mt. Zion Setting Bar High After Several Breakout Performances Last Fall

Mt. Zion football coach Patrick Etherton knew he had a young team on his hands in the fall of 2022, but it was some of the youngest players in the program that turned heads.

Coach Etherton indicates they will return all their skill position players from last season and on both sides of the ball returner all their regulars except for seven seniors.

According to Coach Etherton, they did some things differently this summer. He explains they sought to give the kids different experiences from the past and saw some bigger schools in the 7-on-7 competitions season.

Coach Etherton does some unique things during the summer in that he'll seek out the tendencies of college coaches and the things they are doing and find out if there are things he can bring to Mt. Zion.

Coach Etherton believes it is without question the experience of his football team will be its strength this season.

Mt. Zion hosts three consecutive home games to start its season with Limestone coming to town week one. The Braves have just three road games this season, a unique advantage this year.
