HS FBALL: Maroons Top Tremont

In a game heard Saturday night on WHOW, the Clinton Maroons downed the Tremont Turks, 43-6, in non-conference football action.  The game, which was postponed from Friday night due to storms, was played at Dee-Mack High School in Mackinaw. 
 

Clinton jumped in front on their first offensive possession, and never looked back.  Maroons quarterback Mason Walker took his first carry of the season 57 yards for a touchdown.  The Maroons senior would go on to rush for three touchdowns and 174 yards on 11 carries.  He also went 5 of 7 passing for 64 yards and a touchdown on his way to being named the WHOW / Serv Pro of Piatt & DeWitt County Player of the Game. 
 

Walker scored the first three Clinton touchdowns on the ground.  The fourth TD of the first half was a 31 yard touchdown pass to Dawson Graves.  Graves had three catches for 52 yards and the score. The Maroons led 28-0 at halftime. 
 

Clinton's defense tallied four first half sacks; three by Ryan Stapleton.  Jack Webb also had a first half interception in an impressive outing for the entire defensive unit. 
 

Maroons senior running back Tristin Potts topped off the scoring with two second half touchdown runs.  He finished with the two scores to go along with 91 yards on 19 carries.  
 

Tremont's touchdown came during the running clock fourth quarter when sophomore quarterback Brett Bane hit senior Ty Fuller for a 93 yard touchdown. Bane finished 13 of 25 for 115 yards with the touchdown and an interception.  The Turks (0-1) host Warrensburg-Latham Friday night. 
 

The Maroons (1-0) host Tri-Valley in week two Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7p with pregame coverage around 6:45p on all WHOW platforms!
