Illinois has named Luke Altmeyer its starting quarterback for the fall of 2023 and the Ole Miss transfer will have a bevy of weapons at his disposal.
Illini HQ's Bob Asmussen says Altmeyer's success will not be held back by a lack of talent or depth around him. Because of the nature of Illinois' practices that are available to the media, he indicates it's hard to get a good read on the redshirt sophomore.
According to Asmussen, Illinois brings back Isaiah Williams, the quarterback turned receiver from St. Louis. Additionally, Pat Bryant comes back and is healthy this year - as well as Casey Washington.
With bell-cow back Chase Brown off the NFL, Asmussen indicates Reggie Love and Josh McCray should get the bulk of the carries this year.
