Monticello responded after a disappointing week one loss to topple IVC 52-13 last Friday night and now turns its attention to St. Louis Confluence Prep Saturday afternoon at Monticello High School.
The Sages forced six turnovers in last week's Illini Prairie Conference win and Coach Cully Welter was overall pleased with how his team played and responded to its week one loss.
Last week's emphasis was on effort all the way through the play and Coach Welter says sometimes coaching effort isn't always the right answer but he did see an improvement in finishing plays playing to the whistle.
According to Coach Welter, Confluence Prep has a limited roster but they play hard and have big play ability.
