HS FBall: Monticello Blows Away Confluence Prep Academy

Luke Teschke accounted for five more touchdowns and Monticello's defense had another defensive touchdown as the Sages ran away with a 56-14 victory over St. Louis Confluence Prep Academy Saturday in non-conference high school football action from Monticello High School.

In last week's win over IVC, the Sages used big plays to create separation but it was methodical offense this week that worked for Monticello.

Teschke started the day with a four-yard touchdown run on the opening drive to put Monticello up 7-0.

Confluence Prep's James Holmes ripped off a 60-yard run on the Titans' second play of the game to bring them within 7-6.

But was all Monticello after that. Teschke found Trey Welter from 21 yards out to go up 14-6. Ike Young picked off a fourth down throw to make it 28-6. Raiden Colbert caught a four-yard score to put the Sages up 35-6.

After a Teschke one-yard run to make it 42-6, the Sages finished the half on a short pass to Carter Foran who finished off the scoring running it up the sideline for a 21-yard touchdown.

With a running clock for the rest of the game, each team scored a touchdown.

Monticello's scoring was capped by a Heyden Romano 21-yard touchdown.

Teschke finished 14-for-21 with 231 yards passing and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 68 yards on nine carries with a touchdown.

Ike Young had 100 yards total offense and two touchdowns with a rushing touchdown and a defensive touchdown.

Foran finished with three catches and 45 yards with a score. Colbert had two catches for 26 yards and a touchdown.

Welter was the ServPro of Piatt/DeWitt County Player of the Game with a game-high five catches and 103 yards with a touchdown.

Monticello improves to 2-1 overall. They'll host Bloomington Central Catholic in a big matchup of Illini Prairie Conference rivals next Friday night. Hear the action on 95.9 FM WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com.
