In a game heard Friday night on WHOW, the Clinton Maroons topped the Central A&M Raiders, 28-20, in a road Central Illinois Conference game at Mowequa. 
 

The two teams traded scores and big plays throughout the game before the Maroons sealed it late.  
 

A&M started the scoring late in the first quarter with a 12-yard touchdown run by quarterback Drew Damery.  Clinton quarterback Mason Walker answered with a 12-yard touchdown run of his own on the Maroons next drive early in the second.  The Raiders would then score four minutes before the break on a 41-yard touchdown run by running back Evan Piersall to lead 14-7 at the half.  
 

The third quarter started with a bang for the Maroons as Dawson Graves took the first play from scrimmage 70-yards for a score to the tie the game back at 14 apiece.  Midway thru the third, Piersall scored again, but the Raiders missed the extra point making the score 20-14 A&M.  Clinton would answer two minutes later with a drive and a Tristin Potts 10-yard score.  The extra point conversion by kicker Taylor Anderson made it 21-20 Maroons.  
 

Both teams were held out of the end zone until late in the fourth when a Clinton touchdown was setup by an interception by Tristin Potts.  With 1:20 to go Mason Walker scored from 11-yards out to put Clinton up 28-20.  Central A&M put together a drive with a shot at the end zone as time expired, but they were unable to connect.  
 

Potts' interception and numerous tackles combined with his 18 carries for 97 yards, and a score earned him the WHOW / Serv Pro of Piatt/DeWitt County Player of the Game award.  Mason Walker was 6 of 11 passing for 98 yards with an interception.  He rushed 10 times for 58 yards and a touchdown.  Dawson Graves carried the ball 6 times for 106 yards and a score, and had 3 catches for 56 yards.  Colton Walker had four catches for 54 yards for Clinton. 
 

For the Raiders, Damery finished 7 of 15 passing for 80 yards, and rushed 16 times for 53 yards and a score.  He was knocked out of the game with around two minutes to play in the fourth, and did not return.  Evan Piersall ran 21 times for 161 yards and two touchdowns for the Raiders, who fall to 2-2 overall, and 0-1 in the CIC.  They'll travel to Tuscola next week.  
 

Clinton improves to 2-2 overall, and are now 1-0 in the conference.  The Maroons return home next Friday night to host Meridian. Hear the action on all WHOW platforms!
