HS FBall: Despite Defeat, Monticello Football Coach Remaining Positive

The Monticello Sages fell short Friday night to the no. 5 team in Class 2A, Bloomington Central Catholic, 24-16.

It was a game last season BCC took over late with a power run game. This year, Monticello was able to stand up to the power run of the Saints and Coach Cully Welter was overall pleased with his team's effort last Friday.

Coach Welter knew BCC would go to the power run a lot because of its success last year but felt his team was opportunistic with three first half interceptions.

For the Sages, it's all about getting better with each game, each practice and each play.

For Coach Welter, he believes the Illini Prairie Conference offers quality opponents each and every week and with that said, Monticello turns its attention to Pontiac this Friday night.
